How do you play?

One usually plays singles ( tete-a-tete), doubles ( doublette) or tripples ( tripplette) and the object of the game is to throw your balls so that they land closer to the jack ( cochonnet - which quite literally means piglet) than those of your opponent, or to throw your balls ( boules) at the opponents balls, thus moving them away from the jack. The metal balls ( boules ) used to play the game should weigh between 680g and 800g. The jack ( cochonnet) was  traditionally made out of wood but nowadays from varied materials. The game is won by the first team to reach 13 points and one normally plays the best of three games.
